Curated by Lex & Hood.
Lex & Hood is the bicoastal songwriting collaboration of Lex Ventura, based in Santa Barbara, CA, and Tom Hood, based in Tampa Bay, FL. Together they make original, cross-genre rock, from melodic story songs to high-octane pop punk, built around characters, memories, and the moment.
From the Pacific to the Gulf Coast, Lex brings a mix of classic pop-rock, R&B, synth and surf. Tom is a multi-instrumentalist on guitar, bass, harmonica, keys and more. Together they write songs about characters, memories and the moment.
The two go way back, including earlier work as Lex & The Hood. They reunited in 2026 and started releasing a run of new songs on Flipside Records.
How we make it: Every Lex & Hood song is written by Lex and Tom: the lyrics, the melodies, the concept. We use AI-assisted tools for parts of the production and some video imagery, so the finished track sounds the way we hear it in our heads.
"First and foremost Lex and I are songwriters and we have discovered that AI assisted production is allowing us to finally produce songs the way we hear them in our heads." Tom Hood, via Jack Righteous
